Prison Ministry Ride 2020
The KonB, Diocese of St. Augustine hosted the 1st Annual KonB Prison Ministry Ride on Saturday October 17th as a charity ride to support our incarcerated Catholic Brothers and Sisters. By all accounts the ride was a great success filled with fellowship, spirituality, fun and good food.
Thank you to Fr Peter of Resurrection Catholic Church in Jacksonville for early morning bike blessing and prayer to send us on our journey safely. Also thank you to KofC Resurrection Council 17161 and Assembly 2368 for their generous donations!
In attendance and special thanks to all of our Brothers from KonB Miami; David Campos, PKG, FDD George Gutierrez, and Abimoal Carbonoll, as well as Joaquin Lopez who jumped on a plane and came all the way from Mexico! Also attending was our Worthy KonB President Steve Bell and his wife Maryellen, DOSA KonB Chairman Gregg Bell and his wife Lisa and Al Hursky.
One of our destination points included a stop at St. Mary’s Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Maccleny, FL. Thank you to Fr. Richard and Deacon “Corky” for providing great hospitality and educating us on Fr. Richards Pastoral Mission of his order in supporting Prison Ministry. The second destination point included a Rosary service at the Columbia Correctional Institution where we prayed for all of our incarcerated brothers and sisters as well as the many volunteers that support Prison Ministry. The last destination was lunch at Gator Dockside for fun, food and fellowship.
I am very pleased to announce that even with this small group and with the support of our council and assemblies we were able to raise close to $1,000! If you would still like to donate please visit the home page of the KonBFLA website and select the PayPal button to donate. Stay tuned for next year as we will grow bigger and better in support of all of our incarcerated brothers and sisters. Check online at Fla.com in a few days for a ride summary and more pictures.
